Ian Kirk is a lifelong rock climber with over 35 years of experience on the sharp end. He first honed his skills on crags of the west before relocating to Ohio, where he found his climbing home on the sandstone walls of Kentucky’s Red River Gorge. Over the decades, Ian has been contributed to the development of sport climbing across Ohio and Kentucky, establishing more than 100 first ascents.

Beyond his personal achievements, Ian has deeply embraced the lifestyle and community that make climbing so unique. His love for the humor, camaraderie, and shared passion of climbers inspired him to create Chosslife—a brand dedicated to producing graphic clothing that captures the spirit, jokes, and nuances of climbing culture.

Ian’s commitment to the community also extends to sustainability and safety. As the founder of the Red River Gorge Fixed Gear Initiative (RRG FGI), he led the organization from 2013 to 2024, overseeing the purchase and distribution of more than 8,500 stainless steel bolts for safe route development and rebolting. His work continues to help preserve and strengthen the climbing experience for future generations.
